Morning Routine: Start your day with affirmation

Thank you for reading my blog.

In this second installment of Morning Routines that should become a habit, we will discuss affirmations.

If you have not read the first part, please read the following article.

The content of this issue is also based on the book “The Miracle Morning: The 6 Habits That Will Transform Your Life Before 8AM” by Hal Elrod.

Let’s quickly check out what exactly affirmations are and how to implement them.

Affirmations work: Assumptions can be changed.

Before I talk about affirmations, I would like to talk about the fact that we can change our beliefs.

We are all unconsciously programmed with thoughts and actions, including assumptions.

The content of that programming differs from person to person, and is the result of the influence of various factors such as our upbringing, friendships, past experiences, and what people have told us, etc. The content of that programming is the result of our current programming.

If the content of the program is such that you become a happy and successful person, there is no problem, but there are many people whose programs make their lives difficult.

Programs that are designed to make you focus only on your shortcomings, to make you believe that happiness has nothing to do with you, or to make you believe that you are incapable of doing things can make life difficult.

However, there is absolutely nothing wrong with such a program at this point in time.

As mentioned earlier, programs are influenced by environment, experience, and other factors, and can be rewritten as much as you want later on.

We can rewrite our programs to make us confident in our actions and happy people.

Affirmations are a useful tool to rewrite our own programs.

Let’s take a look at what affirmation is.

What is Affirmation?

It is very simple.

All you have to do is repeat three things: who you want to be, what you want to achieve, and the means to achieve it.

It may be easier to understand if I say it is like self-talk.

By chanting repeatedly, the program is rewritten, thoughts and actions are changed, and the accumulation of these actions will be reflected in the results.

In addition to chanting, it is also effective to write down the content of the affirmation and place it in a place where you can always see it, or post it on a wall.

Now, let’s see how to create the content of affirmations.

How to Create Affirmations

▪Step 1: Write down what your true desires are.

Your affirmations should accurately represent your ideals in each area of your life.

You can focus your affirmations only on the areas you want to improve, or you can start by writing down your ideals in each area to get your head straight.

The most important thing is to be honest with yourself and write it down.

▪Step 2: Write down why you desire it.

No one wants happiness, health, or success, but just wanting it is not an effective strategy.

To stay challenged and achieve your goals, it is important to have a specific rationale for why you want it.

By going deep and clarifying your why, you will be able to move toward your goal without stopping.

▪Step 3: Write down what kind of person you want to be.

Life only gets better after you improve yourself.

The world around you will only get better after you invest the time to improve yourself.

The kind of person you are is a prerequisite to getting what you want.

Write down who you need to become to take your life, work, health, and marriage to the next level.

▪Step 4: Put it into concrete action.

Once you have a clear picture of what you really want, why you want it, and who you want to be, think about what actions you need to take on a daily basis to make it a reality.

For example, if you want to lose weight, you could create affirmations such as

“I will commit to going to the nearest gym five times a week after work and running on the running machines for at least 20 minutes.”

Be specific about your actions: how often, how often, and when you will take action.

And it’s important to start with small behavioral goals.

If you have never been to the gym at all before, setting a goal to run for 20 minutes five times a week at the gym will be a hurdle.

Set action goals that are doable for your situation, and once you are able to sustain them, set action goals for the next steps.

▪Step 5: Keep updating.

Once you have created an affirmation, it should never be a finished product that will remain unchanged for the rest of your life.

As you grow, the content of your affirmations will need to change to suit you.

As you encounter new goals, dreams, habits, and ideas that you want to incorporate into your life, add them to your affirmations.

When you have achieved the content of the affirmation and no longer need to be aware of it, remove it from the affirmation.

Affirmation as a morning routine

If you want to make affirmations a habit, morning is a good time to do so.

This is because morning actions have an “initial effect” that lasts throughout the day.

By using your own affirmations as the first piece of information you take into your brain at the beginning of the day, the decisions you make and the actions you take that day will be more likely to be in line with your affirmations.

Conversely, if you look at social networking sites at the beginning of the day, the content of those posts will influence your decisions and actions for the day.

Write down the content of your affirmations, and then tomorrow, start practicing them every morning.

–Postscript–

In this issue, I have told you about affirmations to add to your morning routine.

If you have dreams and goals, check them every morning and update them on a monthly or other basis.

By doing so, you will not forget your dreams and goals, and you will gradually and steadily move toward the person you want to become.

Make affirmations every morning to get closer to your ideal image.

I would like to conclude with a quote from Henry Ford.

If he thinks he can do it, he can do it. If he/she thinks he/she cannot, he/she cannot. Both assumptions are correct.

Thank you again for reading to the end of this issue.

See you in my next post!
